Tennis Faces Pair of Sun Belt Foes This Weekend

MONROE, La. – Following a 13-day break, the ULM tennis team is back in action this weekend with a pair of road conference matches. The Warhawks face Middle Tennessee in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday at 1 p.m. and conclude the weekend with a match at Western Kentucky on Monday at noon.

The Warhawks (10-2, 2-1 SBC) have had two weeks off following a 1-1 weekend in Lafayette, La. The Warhawks defeated UL-Lafayette 4-3 on March 15 before dropping a close 5-2 decision against North Texas the following day.

The Warhawks have been dominant this season in doubles, having only lost one point all season. Junior Medy Blankvoort and freshman Justyna Krol are 9-1 together at the No. 3 singles position, while freshman Petra Horakova and Silvia Tumova are 8-1 on the season at the No. 2 position and sophomore Sophie Rufyikiri and sophomore Ema Turudija have gone 8-2 at the No. 1 position.

Blankvoort, Horakova and Tumova each are 10-2 on the season to lead the way in singles action. Horakova has the longest winning streak of any ULM player with two straight victories at the No. 6 position.

Middle Tennessee (7-8, 1-2 SBC) is coming off a 4-2 loss to South Alabama on March 24, while Western Kentucky (6-6, 0-1 SBC) lost 4-0 at Lipscomb on March 22 in its last outing.
