Box Score MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team shook off a 2 1/2 hour rain delay to defeat Southern University 7-0 on Thursday in its final home match of the season. The Warhawks (13-3) finished undefeated at home for the second time in three years and extended their home winning streak to 12 straight matches.
ULM quickly picked up the doubles point as sophomore Sophie Rufyikiri and freshman Iris Van Leeuwen defeated Laura Syori and Kendall Bunch, 8-1, at the No. 3 position and junior Medy Blankvoort and freshman Justyna Krol topped Morgan Taylor and Camara Davis, 8-3, at the No. 2 position.
Freshman Petra Horakova gave ULM a 2-0 advantage with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Taylor at No. 6 singles.
Blankvoort improved to 14-2 on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Danielle Dixon at the No. 2 singles position to give the Warhawks a 3-0 edge. Krol followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lois Alexis at the No. 4 position and Rufyikiri finished off a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Gabrielle Moore at the No. 1 position to clinch the match.
Van Leeuwen improved to 5-0 on the season with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Davis at the No. 5 position. Sophomore Silvia Tumova completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Syori at the No. 3 position to move to 13-3 on the season.
ULM concludes the regular season on Saturday, April 13, at Arkansas State beginning at 11 a.m.
