Warhawks to Open 2016 Slate Friday Night

MONROE, La. – The ULM baseball team will open its 2016 campaign on Friday night at 6 p.m. as the Warhawks begin a three-game series at Southeastern Louisiana. Game two of the series is slated for Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.

All three games will air on KMLB 540 AM (Monroe, La.) and can be heard online here. Live video via LionSports.net will also be available.

First Pitch…
• The Warhawks and the Lions met a season ago with Southeastern Louisiana claiming a 7-6 win in Hammond, La. (Mar. 24)... Despite the loss, ULM still leads the all-time series against its former Southland Conference foe, 67-54-1.
• Head Coach Bruce Peddie enters his third season with the Warhawk program... The 2016 season marks Peddie's 18th season as a head coach and during his career he has amassed 412 career victories... Career victory number 400 came in 2015 when ULM defeated South Alabama, 4-3, on Mar. 29.
• This weekend's three-game series at Southeastern Louisiana will mark the seventh, eighth and ninth games against the Lions for head coach Bruce Peddie.
• The trip to Hammond, La., marks the first time since 2012 that ULM will open its season on the road... That season the Warhawks traveled to San Antonio, Texas for a three-game series at UTSA... After dropping the opener (Feb. 18; L, 6-11), ULM claimed the series win thanks to a doubleheader sweep on Feb. 19 (W, 7-3; W, 7-2).
• The weekend series at Southeastern Louisiana begins a seven-game road stretch to open the season for the Warhawks... After three games in Hammond, ULM will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. for a mid-week tilt at Southern Miss (Tuesday, 6 p.m.) followed by a trip to the mountains of North Carolina for a three-game series at Western Carolina (Feb. 26-28).
• ULM's seven-game road swing to start the season is the most for the squad since the 1993 season when the club played eight straight road games to start the season... The eight-game stretch featured games against Texas A&M (two), Rice, Prairie View A&M, Northwestern State (three) and Delta State.
• Following the 2015 season, Anthony Herrera was named Second Team All-Sun Belt after splitting time between second base and the go-to closer... He scored 13 runs and drove in six during the season... On the bump, the right-hander picked up one victory and six saves while tallying a 2.76 ERA in 32.2 innings of work... He struck out 35 and walked just nine batters... He was named to the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball Collegiate All-Star Game during the summer of 2015.
Brayden Bouchey notched four wins in 10 total appearances (eight starts) during the 2015 season... Following his sophomore season, Bouchey played with the Licking County Settlers in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League... He was named to the league's All-Star Game and was named the league's Pitcher of the Year after leading the league with a remarkable 0.22 ERA during the regular season... He appeared in nine games with seven starts and just one run came in to score during his 41.1 innings of work... Bouchey, who posted a 3-0 record, struck out 50, while allowing just 18 hits and surrendering 14 walks... Of his 18 hits allowed, 15 were singles and three were doubles.
• ULM's position probables features eight returners and two junior college transfers (Nathan Reynolds, Feather River College; Cade Stone, LSU-Eunice).
