Warhawks Return from Long Layoff to Host UAB

MONROE, La. -- ULM will return from a two-week hiatus Friday when UAB comes to Raymond Heard Stadium for an 11:30 a.m. match.

ULM entered the ITA rankings (No. 72) for the first time since 2013, its third time doing so under head coach Terrence De Jongh. Petra Horakova also jumped into No. 112 individually despite not having played this spring. The Warhawks are 7-0 for the first time since 1995.

ULM has three unbeaten singles performers, led by Tiffany Mylonas' 7-0 record. Luana Stanciu (six wins) and Ioana Popescu (five) also join the club. Mylonas and Stanciu have also been ULM's top doubles pairing with a 4-1 mark.

Martina Husarova enters the match with back-to-back singles wins and three straight in doubles.

The Warhawks have been perfect on the No. 5 and 6 courts while having just one loss each on Nos. 2 and 3. ULM's last three matches have been won by a combined 16-1, most recently a 6-0 decision on Feb. 19 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The two teams have matched up each of the past four years, with ULM winning three of those. The Warhawks boast a 9-7 all-time record in the series.

The Blazers most recently lost 5-2 at Troy on Saturday and defeated UNC Asheville 5-1 a week before that. They have also faced the likes of Georgia Tech, Auburn and Mississippi State this spring.
