Warhawks Head to Texas for Third Time in Five Weeks

MONROE, La. – After playing its final non-conference home game of the season on Tuesday night, the ULM baseball team returns to action this weekend in a key Sun Belt Conference series at UT Arlington.

All three games between ULM and UT Arlington will air KMLB 540 AM in Monroe as well as online (Nick White, pxp). Live stats as well as live video will also be available.

First Pitch…
• ULM will hit the road for the second consecutive weekend as the Warhawks travel to Arlington, Texas for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against UT Arlington... Game one of the series will begin Friday night at 6:30 p.m... The middle game will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.
• This weekend will mark ULM's third trip of the year to the state of Texas as they face UT Arlington... ULM wasn't scheduled to visit the state of Texas this weekend but flooding in Ouachita Parish and surrounding areas moved the Texas State series to San Marcos and rain forced the series against Dallas Baptist to shift from Monroe to Dallas... ULM will make one final trek to Texas at the end of April as they face Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.
• Since UT Arlington joined the Sun Belt to start the 2013-14 year, the series is tied at three games apiece as the home team has claimed 2-1 series wins (UT Arlington, 2-1, Arlington, Texas, Apr. 4-5, 2014: ULM, 2-1, Monroe, Apr. 3-4, 2015)... Overall, UT Arlington leads the series, 44-29 (dates back to 1985).
• ULM picked up a 10-7 win over Jackson State on Tuesday night at Warhawk Field.
• Three different Warhawks tallied mutli-hit performances against the Tigers... Jacob Stockton reached base all five times as he was 2-for-2 with three walks, two runs and one RBI... Nathan Pugh tallied two hits, including a home run, to go along with two runs and two RBI... Brian Barefoot notched his first collegiate homer as he finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI.
Ethan Daily tossed three innings of relief against Jackson State en route to his third win of 2016... The southpaw struckout three batters and allowed one run on three hits during his 37-pitch outing on Tuesday night.
Keller Bradford recorded a hold in the contest as he faced the minimum in 1.1 innings on the bump.
Keegan Curtis earned his second save of the 2016 season as he pitched the final two innings against Jackson State.
• The contest against Jackson State was the final non-conference home game of the season for the Warhawks... ULM's final four non-conference games of the season take place in four different states... (Arkansas, North Little Rock, Ark.; Mississippi State, Biloxi, Miss.; Stephen F. Austin, Nacogdoches, Texas; Louisiana Tech, Ruston, La.)
• Tuesday's tilt between ULM and Jackson State will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two programs and first since the 2014 season.
• Over the weekend, Spencer Hemphill threw out a pair of would-be base stealers at South Alabama and the sophomore has now thrown out 13 would-be base stealers in 2016... His mark of 13 caught stealing leads the Sun Belt Conference.
• ULM took two out of three games from Appalachian State in the final weekend of March... The Warhawks claimed game one by a score of 10-5 and notched a 6-2 victory in the decisive third game... The Mountaineers won game two, 5-4, after tallying three unearned runs over the final two innings.
• The ULM pitching staff posted a 2.00 ERA over the course of the three games against Appalachian State and all three starting pitchers recorded quality starts... The entire pitching staff combined to post a 6.5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
