MONROE, La. – After spending the last two weekends on the road, the ULM baseball team returns home to host Georgia State in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday night at 6 p.m. Game two of the series will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday night followed by Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.
All three games between ULM and Georgia State will air KMLB 540 AM in Monroe as well as online (Nick White, pxp). Live stats as well as live video (via Warhawks All-Access) will also be available.
First Pitch…
• Sunday's contest against the Panthers will be Bruce Peddie's 900th career game as a head coach.
• ULM is coming off of a 3-1 loss to Arkansas on Tuesday night... The Warhawks evened the game at 1-1 on Cade Stone's sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning (Brian Barefoot scored), but the Razorbacks plated a single run in the seventh and again in the eighth to claim the two-run win at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Ark.
• Chris Hunt got the start on the mound for ULM against Arkansas and the right-hander surrendered just one run on three hits with five punchouts in four innings on the bump.
• Anthony Herrera pitched a career-long 3.1 innings against the Razorbacks, while Keegan Curtis closed out the game on the hill for ULM (0.2 IP).
• Over the team's last 10 games, Brian Barefoot is batting .333 (8-24) with three extra base hits (two doubles, one homer) to go along with four runs scored and two RBI... He has a OPS of .902 (.542 SLG %; .360 OB %).
• Despite posting a 0-1 record over his last two appearances, Anthony Herrera is limiting opposing batters to a .118 batting average (two hits allowed in 5.1 innings)... He also has a 1.69 ERA as he has surrendered just one earned run (two total) in his last two relief appearances.
• Last weekend, ULM posted a 2-1 series win at UT Arlington... The Warhawks claimed the first two games of the weekend series (W, 8-3; W, 3-2) before the Mavericks took the finale, 8-4.
• In the series opener against the Mavericks, Trey Auger made his first start as a Warhawk and earned the win after scattering six hits, three walks and two earned runs over the course of his 5.2 innings of work (recorded two strikeouts).
• Keller Bradford closed out the game and earned his first save of 2016 after allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.
• Cade Stone tallied three hits and scored two runs in game one at UT Arlington... Kyle Schimpf tallied two hits and one RBI while Brian Barefoot finished 2-for-4 at the plate.
• Brayden Bouchey earned his third quality start of the season as he tied his career high with seven innings of work... He allowed just one earned run (two total) on four hits with zero walks and 10 strikeouts... It is the second time in his last three starts that he has fanned 10 or more (12, vs. Appalachian State, Mar. 25).
• Anthony Herrera earned save number four of the season after pitching two scoreless frames as ULM held on for the 3-2 win... Herrera is now in sole possession of seventh place in program history with his 10 career saves.
• Kyle Schimpf helped the Warhawks pick up the one-run win over the Mavericks as he finished with two RBI and one run scored on Saturday.
• In the finale, Spencer Hemphill tallied two hits and drew a walk to go along with two runs and one RBI... Nathan Pugh also scored a pair of runs in the contest.
• Before heading to Arlington, Texas, ULM picked up a 10-7 win over Jackson State (Apr. 5).
• Three different Warhawks tallied multi-hit performances against the Tigers... Jacob Stockton reached base all five times as he was 2-for-2 with three walks, two runs and one RBI... Nathan Pugh tallied two hits, including a home run, to go along with two runs and two RBI... Brian Barefoot notched his first collegiate homer as he finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI.
