Baseball Drops Series Finale to Georgia Southern

MONROE, La. – ULM and Georgia Southern were tied at 1-1 going to the seventh, but the Eagles scored three runs between the seventh and eighth innings to claim a 4-1 win on Sunday at Warhawk Field.

Georgia Southern (27-18, 12-12 Sun Belt) plated the first run of the game as Jordan Wren drove in Logan Baldwin with a RBI single to right field.

ULM (16-28, 7-14) tied the game an inning later as Danny Springer sent the first pitch he saw from Eagle pitcher over the wall in left.

The two teams traded zeros over the next four innings before the Eagles plated two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead. Ryan Cleveland drove in a pair with a RBI double down the right field line. Baldwin was tagged out at home on the play trying to score from first.

In the eighth, Georgia Southern added a run on a sacrifice bunt by Kent Rollins to set the final tally at 4-1.

Keegan Curtis (0-2) was strong on the mound in 6.1 strong innings of work. He took the hard luck loss after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Eagle reliever Landon Hughes (2-2) earned the win after tossing four scoreless frames as he surrendered two hits and one walk.

- Danny Springer hit his fifth homer of the season in the second inning.
- Danny Springer finished the day 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
- Jacob Stockton was 2-for-4 at the plate in the series finale.
- Keegan Curtis notched his first quality start of the season with 6.1 innings of work on Sunday.
