MONROE, La. – ULM head volleyball coach Patrick Hiltz announced today that Albany Schaffer is set to join ULM's indoor volleyball program for the 2016 season.
"We are excited to have Albany join us this fall season,” Hiltz said. “Albany is going to add depth to our defense but more importantly I can't wait to get her around the girls we have on this team. Her attitude and work ethic is going to match extremely well with the direction this team wants to go. I anticipate her presence in our gym will have a positive impact on the energy and feel of practice, and I can see other players feeding off that energy. Albany is a great addition to our Warhawk volleyball family."
A 5-4 libero/defensive specialist, Schaffer joins the Warhawks after lettering and starting at libero all four years at Hays High School (Kan.) under head coach Christin Nunnery. Following her junior and senior seasons, she was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year along with All-WAC First Team honors. She capped off her senior season by being selected to the 2015 Kansas Volleyball Association Class 4A Division I All-State Honorable Mention team.
Schaffer was a two-sport athlete at HHS, also lettering all four years in softball under coach Erin Wagner.
