Warhawks Head To Arkansas State For Sunday Afternoon Matchup

Teams: ULM (5-4-1, 2-0 Sun Belt)

             Arkansas State (2-4-3, 0-2-1 Sun Belt)

Location: A-State Soccer Complex, Jonesboro, Ark.

Time: 1:00 p.m.

MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team will look to go to 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday as they will travel up to Jonesboro, Ark. to face the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Sunday's match will kick at 1:00 p.m. at the A-State Soccer Complex.  

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks will llook for their third Sun Belt Conference win on Sunday afternoon. The third win would be the first time ULM has won three matches in a row in Sun Belt play since they joined the league in 2006.

-Sunday's match will feature the top two goalkeepers in saves in SBC play thru Friday's matches. ULM's Brooke-Lynn Scroggins has 61 saves thru 10 matches, just five saves behind Arkansas State's keeper Kelsey Ponder. Ponder has 66 saves in nine matches for the Red Wolves.

-ULM and Arkansas State will matchup for the 13th time in the two school's histories dating back to 2001. The Warhawks will look to turn the tide in the all-time series as they have one victory and one tie all-tiime against the Red Wolves. ULM's win came in Monroe on Oct.5, 2007 when they were victorious 5-1.

-The Red Wolves enter Sunday's matchup coming off a  1-0 loss at the hands of South Alabama on Friday. Arknasas State is still looking for its first Sun Belt Conference win after starting 0-2-1 with losses to Coastal Carolina and South Alabama while tying Troy.

-The Red Wolves are led into Sunday by Annica Karlsson who has buried a  team-high two goals this season. Ponder also is a highlight of the Arkansas State team as she is No. 1 in Sun Belt in saves and saves per game.

Preview of Ark. State: They have gotten better every year under Coach Brian Dooley and he's done a good job there. He's recruited in some quality players and it is a game that  will sit down and prepare for. It's definitely a match we can't take lightly.

UP NEXT

-ULM will come back to the ULM Soccer Complex next week as they welcome in South Alabama next Friday afternoon. The match against the Jaguars will kick off at 4:00 p.m.
