2016 Blood Series – Game One

MONROE, La. – A pair of two-run innings, in both the third and fifth frames, pushed the Gold squad past the Maroon team in Monday night's opening game of the 2016 Blood Series.
THE TURNING POINT
Down a run entering the bottom of the third inning, Gold posted two runs – via a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly – to take the lead it would not give up, going on to post the final five runs of the night in the win.
NOTABLES
-The Gold team finished with seven hits as a team, including a pair from Anthony Herrera, while Jonny DeLaCruz drove in two RBI for the squad.
-Four other players – Nathan Reynolds, Chad Bell (double), Tyler Cox and Gino Marucci – each had one hit in the win.
-For Maroon, four players all tallied singles – Cade Stone, Brady McGehee, Oliver and Hunter Johnson. Oliver drove in the only Maroon run with his RBI single in the top of the second inning that tied the game at the moment.
-Cole Hendrix tossed 4 2/3 innings in the start for Gold and earned the win.
