2016 Blood Series – Game Two

MONROE, La. – The Maroon squad scored all six of its runs in the third and fourth innings on Wednesday night and held off a late Gold comeback attempt to take a 6-5 victory and tie the ULM Baseball team's annual Blood Series at one game apiece.
THE TURNING POINT
After the Gold team used a two-run homer and then plated its third run of the inning via and error to cut the deficit to one, it had the tying run on third base when Maroon pitcher Stephen Morrison induced an inning-ending fly out to stop the threat.
NOTABLES
-Six different players combined for the Maroon squad's six hits, while Casey Oliver led the offensive attack with three RBI – including his two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning. Turner Francis added two RBI of his own in the win.
-For Gold, Anthony Herrera and Johnny DeLaCruz each had two hits, including a double each, while Will Daniels had one big hit, the two-run homer in the sixth, as part of the comeback attempt.
-Kyle Backofen struck out five batters over his 3 2/3 inning start, allowing just one run on four hits, and earned the win for Maroon.
