No. 50 Warhawks Head To Jonesboro For A Pair of Matches

Monroe, La. – Fresh off it's No. 50 national ranking, the ULM tennis team is set to take the courts this weekend in Jonesboro for a pair of Sun Belt Conference contests as the Warhawks battle both Texas State and UTA on Friday and Saturday. Friday's matchup with Texas State will begin at 9:30 a.m. before a 10:30 a.m. start on Saturday against UTA. Both matchups will be held at Allen Park in Jonesboro.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks are coming off a huge win on Saturday when they knocked off the previous-No. 40 ranked Tulane 4-3. The win on Saturday propelled the Warhawks into the top 50 in the latest ITA rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.

-The honors continued for the Warhawks on Wednesday as senior Petra Horakova was named the Sun Belt Conference women's tennis Player of the Week for her efforts in the win over the Green Wave.

-This is the second straight season that ULM is ranked in the ITA poll as last season the Warhawks earned the No. 72 ranking in ITA rankings after they opened the year with a 7-0 mark.

-Last season these two teams swept the Warhawks as Texas State beat them 4-3 in Lafayette while UTA beat the Warhawks won 4-0 in San Marcos last year.

-Overall, the Warhawks are 17-9 all-time against the Bobcats even with Texas State winning three of the last four matches. The Warhawks and Lady Mavericks have had an even all-time series as the Warhawks hold just an 11-10 advantage with UTA taking the last two meetings from ULM.

-The Warhawks will return to Heard Stadium one final time in 2017 as they will welcome in Georgia Southern next Saturday, April 1 for Senior Day with the matches beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Warhawks will honor Petra Horakova prior to the match for her four years at ULM.
