Warhawks Dominate Georgia Southern For Ninth Straight Win

Monroe, La. – The ULM tennis team finished off its 2017 home slate on Saturday with a dominant 7-0 win over Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia Southern at Heard Stadium. Prior to the match, senior Petra Horakova was honored as she played her final home match this afternoon.

NOTABLES

-In doubles action, the team of Stefana Andrei and Petra Horakova took the doubles point with a 6-4 win for ULM, while Karolina Snita and Madalina Grigoriu won their match against Georgia Southern 7-5 to secure the doubles point for the Warhawks. Luana Stanciu and Tiffany Mylonas also won a tightly contested doubles match with a 7-6 decision on Saturday.

-In singles action, the Warhawks were dominant once again with five of their six players winning in straight sets to secure the point for the team.

-The Warhawks were led by Andrei on court one, who won 6-2, 7-6, followed up by Mylonas winning her match over the Eagles 6-0, 6-2 in the number two singles position. On court three, Patricia Villar had a tight match and went to three sets before winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.

-Horakova continued her dominance with a 6-0, 6-1 win to move to 10-0 on her Senior Day, while Karolina Snita won on court five 7-5, 6-1. Madalina Grigoriu rounded the day out with a 6-0,6-0 shutout win to finish it off for the Warhawks.

-This marks the seventh time in 11 years under coach Terrence De Jongh that the Warhawks have won at least 10 matches during the dual season and it is the third straight year that ULM has achieved this mark.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks return to the courts for a pair of matches beginning on Friday in Arlington, Texas when they will battle Arkansas State and the Ragin Cajuns over the weekend at UTA.
