MONROE, La. - The ULM softball team returns home to Geo-Surfaces Field for a three-game Sun Belt Conference weekend series against South Alabama beginning on Saturday afternoon. The opening game on Saturday will be the team's annual pink game.
NOTABLES
Last time out: ULM hung with Arkansas on Wednesday night and saw a tied game into the fifth inning, when the Razorbacks posted five runs on the way to a 9-3 victory. After ULM had just tied the game with two runs in the top of the third inning, Arkansas scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth, all coming with two outs in the inning, to take control of the night.
Regular season closing: The Warhawks have 10 games remaining in the regular season. Six of the 10 remaining games will be played in Monroe at Geo-Surfaces Field. The four road games include a short midweek trup to Louisiana Tech and a SBC road series at Georgia State.
South Alabama: The Jaguars will enter the weekend having lost five of the last six games that they have played. South Alabama holds a losing record when they are away from home with a 4-9 record.
30-win season: The Warhawks are on the cusp of a 30-win season with 10 regular season games remaining. The last time that ULM had a 30-win season was in coach Corey Lyon's first season at ULM in 2015 with a record of 30-22 for the first 30-win season as a Sun Belt team. The previous 30-win season was in 2001 as a Southland Conference team with a record of 31-22. The Warhawks have gone over 30 wins only eight times in their 37-year history. The most winning season for ULM came in 1997 with an overall record of 47-12.
Pink Game: The Warhawks will open the South Alabama series with a pink game on Saturday afternoon. First pitch will be thrown out by Debbie Swan, who is the mother of ULM alum Kaylee McKoin. Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and has now been cancer free for several years. During the game there will also be prizes and games. T-shirts will be for sale and there will be opportunities for you to donate to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
