Warhawks Conclude First Day of SBC Championship

San Destin, Fla. – The ULM men's golf team had a rough opening round and sit in a tie for 11th after the opening day of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship. The tournament's first round was delayed for over three hours on Sunday morning due to weather and the second round was suspended due to darkness.

NOTABLES

-Thibault Santigny paced the Warhawks in the opening round with a one-over score of 72. After five quick pars at the start he had a pair of bogies and a birdie to make the turn at plus-one. On his second nine he had three birdies including a pair on the par five 11th and 17th holes as he closed at even par on his second nine and one-over overall. Through 11 holes in his second round, he sits at even par after a birdie and eagle before play was suspended due to darkness.

-Guillaume Fanonnel had a strong opening round with a plus-three score of 74, bouncing back from a three-over on the first nine where he had one lone birdie on the fifth hole and picking up three birdies on his back nine on the way to an even par on the card. In his second round, Fanonnel is at even par through 12 holes with a birdie and a bogey on holes three and four, respectively.

-Andoni Etchenique had an opening round 77. He had a pair of birdies on holes 10 and 18, however a pair of double bogies on the card spoiled a good round on Sunday. He righted the ship in round two and is three-under par through 10 holes.

-Hogan Arey and Brady Price both had an opening round 78 scores on Sunday. Arey opened with a one-over 36 on his first nine holes, however struggled on his second nine with a 42 coming in pn the way to his 78 on Sunday. Arey opened the second round with a plus-seven through nine holes.

-Price struggled early with a five-over score on his opening nine holes before bouncing back and shooting plus-two on his second nine. Price was one of just three players to play his full second round with a two-over 73. In round two, after going four-over on the first nine, he went two-under on his second nine to finish the second round with a 73.

Thought on the Round: We didn't play well in the morning and put ourselves behind the eight-ball. We are playing better in the afternoon but have much ground to make up. We need a huge day tomorrow.
