TROY, Ala.  -  The ULM softball team enters the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon as the seven seed against sixth-seeded Georgia Southern in a single-elimination game. The winner of the Warhawk-Eagle game will then face No. 3 Georgia State later Wednesday night as the tournament moves to a double elimination format.

 

NOTABLES

Last time out: ULM closed out the regular season against the Ragin' Cajuns over the weekend. The No. 15th-ranked Cajuns swept the series, but not without a fight as ULM came within one run of the Ragin' Cajuns in game two with a final score of 6-5.

Georgia Southern: The last time that the Warhawks faced the Eagles, ULM won the series 2-1 in a SBC weekend series in Monroe. The Eagles enter the tournament having lost eight of the last 10 games.

Sun Belt Championship: The 2017 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship will be conducted over four days utilizing both a single elimination format as well as a double-elimination format to determine the Sun Belt Conference champion and recipient of the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The first two games of the tournament will utilize a single elimination format. Beginning with game three, the tournament will begin double elimination. The top (8) teams, based on conference winning percentage will be eligible to compete for the tournament title.
