Josh Hayman enters his second season with the ULM cross country and track & field programs as an assistant coach. His main focus will be working with the distance runners.
In Hayman's first year with the cross country team he led the men's team to the NCAA Cross Country Regionals and he also had an all-Louisiana freshman of the year honoree in Colby Carey. In his first year he led the Warhawks also to a win in the Southern Miss Invite to open the 2015 season.
Hayman comes to ULM after competing as a student-athlete at Syracuse University. He helped the Orange to a top-five finish at the 2014 Cross Country Championships. On the track, Hayman scored for Syracuse at the Big East Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2013 in the 4x800m relay and the 1000m run. He mainly competed in middle-distance.
Before attending Syracuse, he transferred from Delaware where he competed in cross country and track & field following a season culminating with a Club National All-American finish in the 4x800m, 1500m and 800m runs in 2012.
In 2013-14, Hayman worked as a coach at Running Works Cross Country camp. He also volunteered for Delaware Military Academy High School track & field programs that same year.
Hayman competed at Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, Del., and earned All-County accolades in the 800m and 1600m runs.
The son of John and Tamara Hayman, the Bear, Del., native graduated from Syracuse University in 2015 with a degree in exercise science and a minor in psychology. He is the oldest of four siblings.
