ULM Women Host Reigning West Division Champions UALR

MONROE, La. - The ULM women's basketball team will look for consecutive Sun Belt Conference wins on Saturday against UALR at 2 p.m. inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The game is the first part of a doubleheader with the men's team and first of the 2010 calendar year.

Fans can gain admittance into the game for only $1, while select concessions will also be sold for $1, as part of the Holiday Dollar Days Promotion.

ULM (7-6, 1-2) won its first league game on Wednesday as it held off Troy with a pair of Sannisha Williams free throws with 4.9 seconds remaining. The Warhawks led by as many as 15 points before the Trojans tied the game at 67-67 with 13.6 seconds remaining. In the second half ULM tallied a perfect 16-for-16 at the foul line to preserve the win.

Jesse Carrier leads the Warhawks with an 11.0 points per game average, including a 34.2 percent from behind the 3-point line. Sannisha Williams is averaging 10.1 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per contest. Elizabeth Torres leads the team with 50 assists (3.8 per game) and Priscilla Mbiandja has stolen a team-best 26 passes.

In UALR's (9-5, 2-1) last decision it throttled North Texas, 78-39, on Thursday in inside Jack Stephens Center. Kim Sitzmann led the Trojans with 17 points, while four others scored in double-figures. Asriel Rolfe also chipped in a career-high 16 points, including a career-high-tying four 3-pointers.

Chastity Reed leads UALR in scoring (23.0) and rebounding (8.5) thus far in the season. Shanika Butler has dished out a team-best 54 assists, while Rolfe has recorded 50 assists. UALR is second in the Sun Belt in field goal percentage (.446) scoring defense (53.4).

Overall, it will be the 12th meeting between the two squads with the Trojans holding a decisive 9-2 advantage. Last season, UALR defeated ULM on three occasions, the third (52-40) ended the Warhawks season in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament. The last time ULM dropped UALR was on Jan. 2, 2006, inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum (56-53).
