Former ULM Baseball Standout Jon Prevost Named First Team All-Canada

Baseball
TORONTO - Former ULM outfielder Jon Prevost added one more honor to his impressive tally as a Warhawk as the Canadian Baseball Network named the slugger to its 2009 All-Canadian College First Team in a recent announcement.

Prevost, a native of Montreal, Canada, led the Warhawks with 15 home runs and 20 stolen bases last season en route to earning All-Sun Belt Conference honors. His home run total was the fourth best in a single-season in ULM history as were his 70 runs scored.

A two-year starter for ULM, Prevost helped lead the Warhawks to 66 victories in 2008 and 2009 - the best two-year span for ULM since 2000-01. The Warhawks also won the 2008 Sun Belt Championship and advanced to the championship game of the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Tournament during Prevost's tenure.

The All-Canadian College Team is selected by a panel of 49 voters from Canada and the United States. The panel includes coaches, executives, scouts, scouting directors, former players, baseball media and the Canadian Baseball Network staff.

This is the third straight All-Canada honor for Prevost as he was named an honorable mention following his junior season at ULM and his sophomore season at Seminole State.

The 2010 Warhawks open the season in less than a month when they travel to Oxford, Miss., for a three-game series against No. 22 Ole Miss beginning Feb. 19 at Oxford-University Stadium.
