Tennis Travels to Arkansas for a Pair of Matches

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's tennis team will look to continue its winning ways this week as it travels to the State of Arkansas. The Warhawks will travel to Central Arkansas on Tuesday (March 9) for an 11:30 a.m. match before heading to UALR on Wednesday (March 10) for another 11:30 a.m. dual.

After dropping its first match of the season to nationally-ranked Mississippi State, ULM (5-1) returned to its winning ways last Friday (March 5), as the Warhawks downed Delta State, 6-1. ULM took two of the three doubles matched to earn the doubles point and then won five-of-six singles matches to earn the victory over the 27th-ranked Division II school in the country.

Central Arkansas has a record of 1-6 this season; they lost their last match on Sunday (March 7) to Stephen F. Austin, 6-1. The Sugar Bears took the doubles point against Stephen F. Austin as the duo of Petra Keilova and Kazumni Otani won at first doubles and Lindsey Short and Allison Hartman earned a victory at second doubles.

UALR is 7-7 this season; they lost their last match, 4-3, to Houston on Sunday (March 7) in Hattiesburg, Miss. Veronique Luksich has the best singles record for the Trojans this season, she is 10-5. Last season, UALR edged ULM, 4-3, in a dual match in Monroe (March 6, 2009).

Following their trip to Arkansas, the Warhawks will return home to host another school from “The Natural State” as Arkansas State comes to Monroe on Saturday, March 13. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at Heard Stadium.
