MONROE, La.--Todd Berry will
wrap up his first spring practice as the head coach at ULM on Saturday when the
Warhawks play their annual Maroon & Gold Spring Game at Malone Stadium. The
game, which is one of four athletic events taking place on campus Saturday,
begins at 12:30 p.m. and admission is free.
"It will be a very fun game,"
Berry said. "Not very often do you get out in the backyard and play football
and that's what I want Saturday to be. I want it to be a backyard game in the
terms of their mentality and the way they enjoy the game. We are going to be limited
in what we do because we don't want to tip our hand to our
opponents. Between You Tube, cell phones and all those other things, you have
got to be careful about what you show."
The game will feature the
offense against the defense in four 15-minute quarters with a running clock.
Both teams will be awarded six points for a touchdown and one point for an
extra point. The offense, who will be wearing white, can receive three points
for a field goal, one point for three consecutive first downs and three points
for a play of 20 yards or more. The defense, who will be wearing maroon, will
receive three points for a turnover, one point for a three-and-out and one
point for a play that results in a loss of yardage.
Immediately following the Maroon & Gold Game will be the La
Louisiana crawfish boil at 2 p.m. between Malone Stadium and Warhawk Field.
Following the crawfish bowl, the ULM baseball team hosts Florida Atlantic at 4
p.m. The day's festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the ULM Athletics Hall of Fame
induction ceremony on the seventh floor of the ULM Library and the ULM Warhawk Classic track & field meet at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Stadium.
