Women?s Basketball Announces 2010-11 Schedule

MONROE, La. – ULM women's basketball head coach Mona Martin announced today (July 27) the schedule for the upcoming 2010-11 season. The Warhawks slate for the upcoming campaign includes 14 home games at Fant-Ewing Coliseum and nine contests against in-state foes.

“We are very pleased with our schedule for the upcoming season,” said Martin. “We believe that we have put together a non-conference schedule that will challenge our team and prepare them for conference play.”

ULM will open the regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 12, as the Warhawks host New Orleans, the Privateers will be competing as a Division I Independent this season after leaving the Sun Belt Conference. The Warhawks will then face three more in-state foes, Nicholls State (Nov. 16), Northwestern State (Nov. 19) and Centenary (Nov. 23), before traveling to New Mexico State on Thanksgiving weekend for the first of two in-season tournaments.

Following the trip to New Mexico, ULM will host local rival Grambling State (Nov. 30) before competing in their season tournament of the season at Rice on the first weekend of December.

The Warhawks will close out the 2010 calendar year with three of four games at home in Monroe, beginning against Arkansas-Monticello on Dec. 11. After travelling to McNeese State (Dec. 14), ULM will host Tulane, an NCAA tournament participant last season, on Dec. 20 and finish the month by hosting Florida Atlantic in the Sun Belt opener on Dec. 29.

ULM will close out its three-game homestand on Jan. 2 as Florida International comes to Monroe before the Warhawks hit the road for their final non-conference game of the season on Jan. 4 at Texas A&M. The Aggies reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Warhawks host Denver on Jan. 8 and will then hit the road for six of their next eight games. ULM opens that stretch at defending Sun Belt West Division champion UALR on Jan. 12. ULM will also travel to South Alabama (Jan. 15), Louisiana-Lafayette (Jan. 22) and Arkansas State (Jan. 26) before concluding the eight-game stretch at Sun Belt East Division champion Middle Tennessee on Feb. 2 and at Western Kentucky on Feb. 5. During the eight-game span, the Warhawks will also host North Texas (Jan. 20) and Troy (Jan. 29).

Arkansas State and UALR will come to Monroe on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12, respectively, before the Warhawks make their final regular season road trip of the season to Denver (Feb. 16) and North Texas (Feb. 19).

The Warhawks will close the 2010-11 regular season by hosting Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 26. The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will once again by held in Hot Springs, Ark., beginning on March 5 and continuing through the championship game on March 8.
