Kyle Kent Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Junior Kyle Kent of the ULM track and field team has been named as an All-Academic honoree by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Kent, a native of Shreveport, La., was one of two student-athletes to represent ULM at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships, where he earned a 15th-place finish with a best-throw of 66.41m (217-10), despite suffering a leg injury on his first attempt of the competition.

He posted his best throw of the season at the NCAA East Regional, measuring 68.43m (224-6), to earn a fourth-place finish to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Kent also won the javelin competition at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships; it was his second conference title in his ULM career.  

In the classroom, Kent carries a 3.642 GPA in the ULM School of Nursing. He is one of just five student-athletes from Louisiana to receive the USTFCCCA honor.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provision qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in their respective event.
