ULM POSTGAME QUOTES

Head coach Todd Berry
On the game … “I've never been around a bad win, but that is probably the ugliest win I've certainly ever been around. We didn't start the first quarter off very well. We have a bunch of young guys out there and to Southeastern's credit they came out and did some different things. With a young football team, you get some of those blank stares sometimes. The penalties are really frustrating; the turnovers are really frustrating. I'm not used to that and I'm going to get to the bottom of that because we have to be a more intelligent football team. I challenged the team about it after the game because these are things we cover over and over again. I'm trying to smile about the victory, but it still sets me off about that kind of stuff. That's not the way we play and that's not the way I'm used to seeing a football team play.”

Sophomore linebacker Cameron Blake
On the game … “I was excited about how we ran around and made plays and came out with a win. They have a good team. You can't take anything away from them. They came out and made plays, their receivers ran good routes. The second half we made adjustments and got it right.”

On responding after last week's loss … “We came out with a chip on our shoulder after last week.  Coach challenged us to make plays and we executed them.”

Junior wide receiver Anthony McCall
On making plays … “It's always good to go out there and make plays for the offense. As receivers we are called on to be the playmakers and we go out there and make plays. That's the most important thing, to go out there and get the offense going.”

On the penalties … “We had a lot of penalties tonight and you can't do that. We hurt ourselves doing that and it killed our drives. We need to pay attention to the details and do the little things.”

Junior defensive end Ken Dorsey
On the defensive game plan … “The coaches put us in the right place at the right time. It was a great call by the coaches to have us come off the edge.  The guy tried to cut us and I was able to just jump up and knock the ball out.”

On the message from the coaching staff … “Coaches told us that it was time to come and play, I felt like we started out flat and I felt like we weren't ready in the beginning. As the game went along, we were able to come along and play hard.”

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA POSTGAME QUOTES

Head coach Mike Lucas
On the Game overall … “We missed a chip shot field goal, missed an extra point, recovered a fumble down in the green zone and didn't get anything out of it. You know, we had several opportunities to win this football game. It was a well coached game on both sides. We came out and had a very good plan on both sides of the ball. They made adjustments, we came back and made adjustments, then they made more adjustments. That's the way it goes. I thought it was a well coached game on both sides.”

On ULM's eventual game-winning touchdown … “We're in man-to-man coverage and we have three guys in the quarterback's space and he (Kolton Browning) stepped back and made a nice throw. We had a chance to sack him and missed the sack, and we have got to have better coverage.”

Senior linebacker Mark Newbill
On the game overall … “It's the same thing. It's stuff that can be corrected; we're just making a bunch of mistakes.”

On ULM's fourth down conversions … “They wanted it more than we did. On that fourth down we made a whole bunch of mistakes and stuff that we can correct.”

On opportunities lost … “We just have to work on giving up the big play and stop making so many mistakes. That's what's hurting us. Every week we're giving up big plays on deep balls and an endless list of things we can correct.”
