ULM Falls at No. 10 Auburn, 52-3

AUBURN, Ala. – Redshirt freshman quarterback Kolton Browning completed a career-high 25 passes as ULM fell 52-3 at 10th-ranked Auburn on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 2). Browning finished the day 25-for-33 through the air for 203 yards, the third-straight game in which he has thrown for more than 200 yards.

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton was 14-for-19 passing for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

Auburn took the kickoff to open the contest and scored on its first drive to take an early 7-0 advantage. The Tigers went 65 yards in two plays, capped by a 50-yard touchdown run by Onterio McCalebb.

After ULM's first drive stalled on the Auburn 44-yard line, Aaron Munoz's punt was downed by the ULM special teams at the Auburn three. The Tigers struck quickly again as Newton hit Emory Blake for a 94-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the drive. 

ULM answered with a 61-yard, 14-play scoring drive. Junior Radi Jabour capped the drive with a 35-yard field with 4:31 to play in the first quarter to cut the Auburn lead to 14-3. Browning was 7-for-9 through the air on the drive for 56 yards.

Auburn responded on its next possession with a 19-yard field goal to regain a 14-point advantage, 17-3, with 2:09 to play in the first quarter.

The Warhawks once again moved into Tiger territory, reaching the 23-yard line before lining up for a 41-yard field goal. ULM attempted a fake and did not convert as its pass attempt was intercepted. Auburn then went 66 yards for a score as Michael Dyer found the end zone from three yards out.

The Tigers scored again before the half to take a 31-3 lead into the intermission.

ULM had 10 different players catch passes in the contest, the most in a game since 2005 when 10 Warhawks caught passes against FIU. Sophomore Luther Ambrose led ULM in receiving with seven catches for 56 yards.

Auburn's Mario Fannin was the game's leading rusher with 89 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown. Four different Tigers had rushing touchdowns in the contest.

ULM will return home to Malone Stadium next Saturday (Oct. 9) when it hosts Florida Atlantic. Game time against the Owls is scheduled for 6 p.m.
