MONROE, La. - ULM Athletics
Director Bobby Staub announced Tuesday that ULM has signed a home-and-home
football contact with Tulane that will send the Warhawks to New Orleans in 2012
and will bring the Green Wave to Monroe in 2013.
"Any time we can sign a
home-and-home deal with a regional FBS team it is a positive for our program
and our fan base," Staub said. "The series provides our fans with an exciting
road trip and a six-game home schedule in 2013. The New Orleans area always
produces a lot of talented football players and this is a great opportunity to
expose ULM football to that part of the state."
ULM will play Tulane in the
Louisiana Superdome on Sept. 29, 2012, and the Green Wave will return the trip
to Malone Stadium on Sept. 14, 2013. In addition to a four-game Sun Belt
Conference schedule, the Warhawks also host Grambling State in 2013 as the
Tigers come to Malone Stadium on Sept. 7.
The Warhawks and Green Wave
have met just two previous times with the last game coming in 2008 when ULM
traveled down to New Orleans; Tulane played in Monroe in 2002.
The Warhawks wrap up spring
practice on Saturday with their annual Maroon & Gold Spring Game at Malone
Stadium at 11:30 a.m. Admission to the game is free.
