MONROE, La. - The ULM tennis team looks to close out the regular
season undefeated in Sun Belt Conference play with its final home contest of
the year against Middle Tennessee Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Heard Stadium. The
match doubles as Senior Day for seniors Monica Winkel and Vivian Polak, who
will be honored prior to the start of play.
The Warhawks have rolled through the latter portion of the
2012 season with eight consecutive wins, which included a huge 4-3 win over
once-ranked No. 31 SMU followed by a 6-1 defeat of Arkansas State. ULM brings
an overall record of 12-2 and a 3-0 league mark into Friday, being just one of
three unbeaten teams in Sun Belt play, which includes Middle Tennessee.
Medy Blankvoort will go for her 15th singles victory
this season to extend her winning streak to 16 consecutive. She is in the hunt
for ULM's first undefeated season of singles play in at least eight years.
Ema Turudija is also undefeated in singles action after
making the starting lineup mid-way through the year and sits 8-0 overall.
ULM hits the road following its final home match for its
last two contests of the regular season in Birmingham, Ala., against UAB next
Friday at 12 p.m. and Tulane next Saturday at 9 a.m.
