ONEONTA, Ala. - Consistent play guided the ULM women's golf team to a fifth place finish in its last regular season tournament of the year at the Samford Women's Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon. Ali Lucas held on for a top-10 finish overall on the par-72, 6,039 yard Limestone Springs Golf Club layout.

Lucas, who started the day tied for fifth overall, carded a six-over-par 78 to total 227 and end in a tie for eighth place. The native of Crowley, La., led the field in par-5 scoring by finishing two-under-par for those holes. Newberry's Maria Luz Besio took medalist honors with a final round 73 for a combined 219 to best first day leader Natalie Mitchell of Samford by four strokes.

ULM combined for 922 after it turned in a 312 Tuesday. The finish was eight strokes off fourth place Florida Southern, who slid back four spots overall after entering the final round with the lead. Troy claimed the team title with a day-best round of 301, totaling 914 for the tournament. Middle Tennessee and host Samford each finished within two strokes in second and third place, respectively.

All four Warhawks that competed placed in the top-25 of the field, and Emily Stratton registered the team's low round of the day with a four-over-par 76. She shot 232 for the 54-hole event to tie for 22nd place just one stroke ahead of Ines Fendt, who matched Lucas' 78 to tie for 24th. Lina Lagergren tied for 16th overall after shooting a combined 230.

The Warhawks move on to postseason play next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Muscle Shoals, Ala., when they try to claim their first conference championship in program history.
