MONROE, La. - ULM men's
basketball head coach Keith Richard announced the Warhawks' schedule for the
2012-13 season on Monday. The 26-game slate features 12 home games, 20
conference games and trips to Oklahoma, Florida State and UAB.
"What strikes me about this schedule is that we are playing 20 Sun Belt
games," Richard said. "I don't think we have done that since joining the
conference. It is an opportunity to play more games against our conference
competitors."
The Warhawks open the season Sunday, Nov. 11, on the road at Oklahoma,
followed by a trip to Louisiana Tech on Nov. 24. It marks the fourth straight
season that ULM and Louisiana Tech will meet on the hardwood.
The 20-game Sun Belt slate begins Nov. 29 when the Warhawks entertain Sun
Belt Tournament champion Western Kentucky at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. ULM visits
UALR on Dec. 1 before finishing off its non-conference schedule with home games
against Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 10) and Southern (Dec. 13) and road trips
to Florida State (Dec. 17) and UAB (Dec. 20).
The Warhawks turn their focus back to conference play on Dec. 29 by
hosting Florida Atlantic and South Alabama (Jan. 3). ULM returns to the road
for four of its next five games with trips to North Texas (Jan. 5), Troy (Jan.
10), South Alabama (Jan. 17) and Arkansas State (Jan. 19). The Warhawks lone
home game during that stretch comes Jan. 12 against reigning Sun Belt regular
season champions Middle Tennessee.
The Warhawks host Troy on Jan. 26 before traveling to Florida Atlantic
(Jan. 31) and FIU (Feb. 2). ULM is back at home against UALR on Feb. 7 before
meeting rival UL-Lafayette for the first time on Feb. 10 at the Cajundome.
ULM and North Texas will meet for the final time ever in Sun Belt play
when the Mean Green travels to Monroe on Feb. 14. ULM also plays host to
Arkansas State on Feb. 16.
Trips to Western Kentucky (Feb. 21) and Middle Tennessee (Feb. 23)
round out the Warhawks' road schedule. ULM closes out the regular season at
home against FIU (Feb. 28) and UL-Lafayette (March 2). ULM and FIU will also be
meeting for the final time in Sun Belt play.
The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will take place March 8-11 in
Hot Springs, Ark.
