MONROE, La. - The ULM men's
basketball team took time out of its schedule this past Friday and Saturday to volunteer
at the 19th Annual Northeast Louisiana Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Forsythe
Park in Monroe. The team spent each day helping to set up for the event while
also helping to clean up following the race.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is an annual event that includes a 5 k run/walk and a 1 mile walk
where breast cancer survivors and activists can come together to raise awareness for breast cancer. In
addition to raising awareness for breast cancer, the event also helps to
educate the community on breast cancer statistics and Susan G. Komen for the
Cure's breast health recommendations while also helping to raise funds to fund
local education, screening and treatment grants, as well as research grants at
the national level.
