MONROE, La.- The
ULM softball team took a break from its off season workout schedule this
weekend to lend a hand in the community. The team spent the weekend volunteering
at the local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, where they managed the finish
line chute area. Veteran Coach Holloway-Hill's team then headed to First United
Methodist Church in Monroe on Tuesday to help unload 44,000 pounds of pumpkins,
building a pumpkin patch for local kids.
Holloway-Hill has always put a point of emphasis on getting her teams into the
community to help out. "It gives our girls an opportunity to have a hands on
relationship with others in the community and give something back to others,"
said Holloway-Hill, the winningnest coach in ULM sports history. "We get as
much gratification out of it as the people we are helping do.
This allows us to build connections around town as we compete for the university
and city."
The Warhawks will begin their quest for a Sun Belt
Conference Championship in the spring. For more information on the team, please
