ULM Tennis Blanks Nicholls State, 7-0

MONROE, La. -- ULM tennis (7-1) got back in the win column with a 7-0 win over Nicholls State (9-5) on Friday afternoon. The Warhawks took the first two doubles matches and then swept through the singles matches.

Sophie Rufyikiri and Ema Turudija defeated Marie Aubert and Isla Brock in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Silvia Tumova and Petra Horakova won No. 2 doubles over Rachel Howie and Catherine Gauthier, 8-1. The third doubles match between Justyna Krol, Medy Blankvoort and Natalia Cardiff and Eva Castiglioni was unfinished.

Horakova began singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory of Emma Pite in No. 6 singles. Turudija won her match over Howie 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles. Krol continued her strong freshman campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Castiglioni in No. 5 singles.

Blankvoort won her No. 2 singles match over Cardiff 6-3, 6-0. Tumova beat Brock 6-1, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. Rufyikiri won the closest match of the day over Auber 3-6, 6-4, 10-4, in No. 1 singles.

ULM will be back in action on Saturday against Sun Belt foe, UALR, at 2 p.m. inside Heard Stadium.
