MONROE, La. -- The ULM softball team concluded its 2013 regular season with a 6-0 loss at the hands of Jordan Wallace and 21st-ranked UL-Lafayette Sunday afternoon at the ULM Softball Complex.
For the second straight game, the Ragin' Cajuns struck for four runs in the top of the first inning. Matte Haack got the scoring started with an RBI single past the ULM second baseman. Another run came across on a Warhawk error before Shellie Landry delivered a two-run blast to straightaway center.
Brianna Cherry added a solo blast to center in the top of the second, but the damage could have been worse. Catcher Amye Barre teamed up with Janel Salanoa to pick off Nerissa Myers at first base just before the homer.
Haylie Wilson was extremely effective in relief for ULM. She scattered five hits in five and a third innings and yielded just one run on an RBI single by Landry in the fifth.
Salanoa recorded both base hits for ULM while Alexis Cacioppo went 0-for-0 with a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch.
The Warhawks' season continues Wednesday in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Troy, Ala. ULM will take on Western Kentucky at a time to be announced. Stay tuned to ULMWarhawks.com for the game time.
