MONROE, La. – The ULM cross country program released its 2013 schedule on Wednesday with six regular season meets, including the Warhawk Invitational.
The Warhawks will race out to Tulsa, Okla. for the Tulsa Duels to open the season on Aug. 31. A week later, ULM will run at home at its Warhawk Invitational on Sept. 6. Both the men and women won the meet last season.
“We are really excited about hosting the Warhawk Invitational for the third consecutive season,” said head coach J.D. Malone. “It gives our athletes a chance to show their hard work and skill for the home crowd.”
ULM will head to Arlington, Texas on Sept. 14 for the UTA Arlington Opener before a busy month of October. The Warhawks will travel to the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Oct. 5, and NSU Invitational in Natchitoches, La. on Oct. 12. ULM will split its squads on Oct. 19 as the men go to Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, while the women run at Mississippi College.
“Our schedule is very challenging and it was designed to be that way. We try to present our athletes with high quality competition and difficult courses to make us better as a team,” said Malone. “Our goal is always to be successful at the Sun Belt Championships. Our athletes have worked hard and spent a considerable amount of time training since taking a few days off in May to get ready for the season. I am proud of them and their hard work.”
The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Championships will be hosted in Troy, Ala. by Troy University on Nov. 2. The season concludes at the NCAA South Central Regional in Waco, Texas on Nov. 15 and the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.
