MONROE, La. -- ULM senior forward Ashleigh Simmons has been named Co-Louisiana Player of the Month announced today by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association.
For the month of November, Simmons averaged 18 points per contest and grabbed 8.2 rebounds. She shot 64.4% from the floor as she connected on 38-of-her 59 field goal attempts.
She opened her senior season with an 11-point, five rebound performance at TCU on Nov. 9 in Fort Worth, Texas. In the home opener against Louisiana College, Simmons was one of four Warhawks to reach double figures in the 92-52 win over the Wildcats.
Simmons continued her strong play as she scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds in ULM’s 87-77 win over Southeastern Louisiana at Fant-Ewing Coliseum (Nov. 15).
The Warhawk forward has recorded double-doubles in back-to-back games (at Central Arkansas; at Ole Miss). Against the Sugar Bears, Simmons scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. In the team’s most recent game, at Ole Miss, Simmons scored a career-high 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds. With her 34 points, she is the first Warhawk since the 1997-98 season to score 30 or more points in a single game.
