Monroe, La. – The ULM volleyball team will look to remain unbeaten in Sun Belt Conference play this weekend against Arkansas State and Little Rock on Friday and Saturday.

NOTEABLES

-ULM enters the weekend undefeated in conference with a 7-12 overall record. The Warhawks hold a three game win streak with wins over Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State. ULM will play eight of the next 10 games on the road before a five game stretch at home.

-Arkansas State enters the weekend with a 10-6 overall record and is also undefeated in conference. The Red Wolves opened conference play against Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. Arkansas State also holds a three game win streak. The Red Wolves have played against ULM in games dating back to 1983. Arkansas State leads the series. The Red Wolves are currently undefeated in their past 18 conference matches dating back to last season.

-Little Rock will enter the weekend with a record of 5-10 and only one loss in conference play. The Trojans opened SBC play with a loss to Coastal Carolina and a win over Appalachian State. ULM and UALR have played each other dating back to 1985. Little Rock leads the way in the series.

FROM COACH HILTZ

About Arkansas State: Arkansas State is very good. They're the defending SBC Champions for a reason. We will have to be on our game physically and mentally in order to beat them. They certainly have areas we feel we can expose and attack but our serve receive and our block are going to have to work very hard for us to be able to exploit those weaknesses. ASU runs their systems on both offense and defense at an extremely high level and it has led to 18 straight SBC wins. Somebody eventually will beat them. I say why not us? It will be a tough match but I feel we are ready.

About Little Rock: Little Rock is only a couple of years removed from being one point away from a Sweet 16 appearance. Some players from that team are still there so they have experience winning. Their block is one of the best in the Sun Belt so we will need to be smart hitters to avoid letting them get momentum through their blocking. They also have areas we want to try and attack but again, we will need to receive serve at a high level in order for our offense to be able to operate smoothly.

UP NEXT

The Warhawks will take a quick break from conference play to compete in their final non-conference match-up of the season at Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
