STATESBORO, Ga. – Host Georgia Southern used a six-run fifth inning on Sunday to win the Sun Belt Conference weekend series as the Eagles handed ULM a (9-0) loss in the finale.

-With a three-run lead entering the inning, Georgia Southern sent 10 men to the plate in the fifth inning, collecting the six runs on four hits as ULM used three pitchers in the frame. The key hit in the inning was a three-run double by Logan Baldwin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Georgia Southern pushed across the game’s opening run in the first inning on an RBI single before adding a pair of runs in the fourth inning via an RBI double and a run-scoring single to push the game to 3-0 before the six-run inning in the fifth.
-In the fifth inning, the hosts sent 10 men to the plate and tallied four hits, with the frame highlighted by the three-run double and an RBI single.
-Cade Harper finished with two of ULM’s seven hits, while Cade Stone, Johnny DeLaCruz, Spencer Hemphill (two walks), Blake Buckman and Tyler Cox each had a base hit.
-Trey Auger was saddled with the tough-luck loss after allowing three runs in three-plus innings of work in an emergency start after scheduled starter Keegan Curtis had to be scratched minutes before first pitch with forearm tightness. In all, six Warhawk pitchers threw in the loss.
-The Warhawks return to Monroe for home and home midweek series with Northwestern State, hosting the Demons at Warhawk Field on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Natchitoches for a game on Wednesday night. ULM then steps back into Sun Belt Conference play to host South Alabama in a three-game series next weekend.
