JOELTON, Tenn. - The ULM beach volleyball team opened the weekend in Tennessee with a pair of wins on Friday, grabbing a 4-1 win over host Austin Peay State and a 5-0 sweep of Morehead State.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks opened the day against host Austin Peay State. The only loss in the matchup came in the one position. The one and four positions went three sets while the remaining teams finished in two.

-ULM dominated play against Morehead State with a 5-0 sweep. All of the top five teams closed each match out in two sets. No team allowed the Eagles to gain a score of more than 15 points.

-Rebecca Brown and Catherine Griffith continued their success on the court as they pushed their winning streak to 11 games. Today the pair competed in the four position.

-The Warhawks switched up the lineup a little bit as new combinations saw their first time playing together this weekend. Hadley Swartz and Tara Jenkins are the new pair in the one position and Kori Simpson and Claire Crossfield are the new pair in the two position.

FROM COACH HILTZ

Thoughts on the day: We had a little trouble getting started this morning but still played well enough to get the win against Austin Peay. The afternoon match I thought we kept things very clean. Our two new pairs made their debuts and Claire and Kori looked like they've been playing together all year. A little hiccup at the ones this morning cleaned up into a dominating performance in the afternoon match."

Takeaway from the day: The part of the day that I was most proud of was watching Hadley and Tara play through some very difficult and unfortunate adversity in the morning match. While they didn't win the match, the way the two of them handled themselves with class and dignity was champion level emotional control. I couldn't be proud of the way they represented themselves and their university."
