ULM Places Three on All-Louisiana Baseball Team

BATON ROUGE, La.?Led by three-time All-America shortstop Ben Soignier, three ULM baseball players earned All-Louisiana honors by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, the group announced late Saturday.

 

Soignier, who was a first team All-Louisiana selection last year, was joined by second team outfielder Jon Prevost and honorable mention third baseman Nick Wade as the ULM honorees.

 

Soignier led the Warhawks in batting average (.376), doubles (22), RBIs (71), walks (46), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.628). So far this postseason, Soignier has earned Ping!Baseball All-America honors, first team All-Region honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association and first team All-Sun Belt Conference honors for the work in his senior year.

 

The native of West Monroe, La., is ULM's all-time leader in hits (296), total bases (478), doubles (63) and at-bats (837). Soignier also owns the ULM single-season records for hits (93), runs scored (83), total bases (166) and RBIs (71).

 

Prevost, a first team All-Sun Belt selection, led the Warhawks with 15 home runs and 20 stolen bases on the season. His home run total along with his 70 runs scored ranked fourth best in a single-season in ULM history.

 

The product of Montreal, Canada, batted .332 with 13 doubles and a career-high 52 RBIs during his senior campaign. He finished just behind Soignier with a .594 slugging percentage and a .447 on-base percentage.

 

Wade, also from West Monroe, had a breakout season batting .342 with nine home runs and 12 doubles. The junior committed just seven errors all season long at the hot corner and finished with a team-high five sacrifice flies.

 

He added 12 doubles and a triple to his power numbers finishing the season third on the team with a .558 slugging percentage.

 

The Warhawks finished the season with 31 wins marking the 14th season in school history with 30 or more wins and second in three years under head coach Jeff Schexnaider.
