Oxford, Miss. - The ULM women’s basketball team was overpowered by Ole Miss 97-40 on the road Saturday afternoon at the Pavilion.


Ole Miss started things off with a 24-point run before the Warhawks were able to score with 2:45 left in the first quarter. The Warhawks were unable to close the deficit as Ole Miss led for the entirety of the game and closed out the 97-40 win.


-Gabriella Cortez was the only Warhawk to score double digit points, finishing with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor. Four of her field goals were three-point shots. The junior also contributed two assists, one steal and no turnovers in the 26 minutes that she played.

-The Warhawks came out of the locker room after the half and put up 24 points in the third frame for the highest total of points in a quarter for the contest. ULM tallied a 71.4 field goal percentage and shot 10-of-14 in the quarter.

-ULM struggled to hold on to the ball with a total of 31 turnovers compared to the Rebels' 10. Ole Miss went on to score 29 points off of those turnovers.

-The hosts led in almost every category excluding turnovers. Ole Miss put up a field goal percentage of 45 percent compared to the Warhawks' 30 percent. The Rebels also took charge in points in the paint (42-16), second chance points (18-7), fast break points (22-0) and points off the bench (37-21). Ole Miss also outrebounded ULM by a margin of 10.


-The Warhawks return home to play against McNeese on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
