Jonesboro, Ark. The ULM men’s basketball team could not overcome a 31.6 percent shooting night as Arkansas State raced past the Warhawks on Monday night with a 76-45 victory inside the Convocation Center.

THE TURNING POINT

-Arkansas State controlled the game throughout and closed the game on a 22-3 run over the last 10:28 to put the game out of reach.

NOTABLES

-Travis Munnings paced the Warhawks with another strong offensive performance, picking up 19 points in the loss, going 7-of-8 from the floor as he tied a career-best as he hit four of five from beyond the arc. Munnings picked up his 12th double figure scoring performance of 2016 and 23rd of his career.

-The Warhawks finished the night shooting 31.6 percent from the floor (18-of-57) and hit just 4 of their 21 three-point attempts. Arkansas State finished the game at 45.8 percent shooting (27-of-59) and hit seven of its 20 three-point attempts.

-Devin Carter paced the Red Wolves on Monday, scoring 20 points while shooting 6-of-12 from the floor, while Tamas Bruce had a career night with 19 points and 15 rebounds for Arkansas State. Donte Thomas added 12 points and nine assists to round out the double-figure scoring for the Red Wolves.  

-The Warhawks and Red Wolves met Monday night for the 60th time in each school’s respective history. Arkansas State moves to 27-5 in the series in Jonesboro and 36-24 all-time in the series.

Thought on the game: Arkansas State in the second half was a lot more aggressive then we were and it was disappointing after I thought we were definitely in the game at the half. We need to take this game as a learning experience and move on to the next one.

UP NEXT

-Following Monday night’s contest, the Warhawks begin preparation for a Saturday night meeting against Louisiana in the Cajun Dome at 7:15 p.m. next weekend down in Lafayette.
