McNeese Cowboy Relays

Location: Lake Charles, La.

Lake Charles, La. – The ULM men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the outdoor season on Saturday in Lake Charles in the McNeese Cowboy Relays with strong individual performances by several Warhawks.


-The Warhawks had a strong showing in the men’s 1500 meter event this afternoon at McNeese. ULM had the fourth trough seventh place finishers in the event as Elias Keter, Kipkuri Victor, Jacob Holland and Jonathan Jeffcoat all finished within three minutes of each other.

-In the men’s 3000 meter event, ULM had another strong showing as three more Warhawks finished in the top seven of the event. Brandon McDonald placed third with a time of 9:01.03. John Neal finished in fifth with his 9:09.21 time, while Tanner Collins placed seventh with a time of 9:19.58.

-In the men’s 400 meter hurdles, freshman Zach Kilpatrick finished in third in the event, just 0.29 seconds off of winning the event after finishing with a time of 55.00.

-In the men’s 4x400 meter relay, ULM finished in seventh place with a time of 3:21.73. In the men’s 4x800 meter relay, the Warhawks finished in sixth place with a time of 8:16.27.

-Lebrun Nelson competed in the men’s high jump on Saturday, finishing in a tie for fourth with a 1.85 meter jump. He also competed in the triple jump and tied for second with a 14.75 meter jump, just 0.20 meters off tying for the win in the event.

-Dahndre Washington had a eighth place finish in the men’s long jump with his 6.41 meter jump. Micah Dye had a 15.19 meter throw in the men’s shot put to finish in fourth place.

-Kyle Weiss had a 42.22 meter toss in the men’s discus throw. Weiss also finished in seventh in the men’s hammer throw with a 43.07 meter toss.

-Lonnie Wiley placed sixth in the javelin event with a 54.96 meter throw while Austin Walker finished in ninth with a 51.81 meter throw. Micaiah Dendy finished seventh in the women’s long jump with a 5.32 meter jump.

-Dominique Allen had a strong showing in the hammer throw as she finished in fourth place with a 47.20 meter toss. Allen also competed in the discus and finished third with a 41.85 meter toss, just under two meters from winning the event.

-In the women’s 3000 meter run, the Warhawks had two participants that had strong showings as Angela Jepchirchir finished in third with a 10:45.22 time, while Kaitlin Fleming finished in eighth place with 11:20.04 time.

-In the 100 meter dash, La’Porcha Griggs finished in fourth place with a 12.15 time, while Kourtni Russell finished in fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.27. Edith Jebet finished in fifth place in the 1500 meter race with a 5:02.69 finishing time.

- Alton Clay competing unattached won the men's hammer throw with a 62.96 meter throw.


-ULM will have a quick turnaround as they will head down I-20 to Ruston on Wednesday for the Jim Mize Invitational.
