Richard Wins Second Career Javelin Title on Final Day of SBC Outdoor Championships
LAFAYETTE, La. - The third and final day of competition for the ULM track team in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships Sunday at the Ragin' Cajuns Track Facility was highlighted by the first individual win of the meet by a Warhawk competitor.
Marcie Richard registered a season-best throw of 43.43 meters to claim her second career conference championship in the women's javelin over UL-Lafayette's Mayme Cook (43.41 m). Richard was the top ULM finisher in the event three times during the outdoor season, as the senior also had the best Warhawk throws at the Southern Miss Invitational (March 28) and the Golden Eagle Classic (April 10).
Teona Glave ran a career-best 2:14.63 in the 800-meter dash to claim fourth place and five points toward ULM's team total. Glave previously logged a 2:14.80 at the Leon Johnson Invitational April 6.
Richard McKay enjoyed a successful showing in the men's javelin throw, posting a top attempt of 66.38 meters to finish in third place. McKay also claimed third at last season's Sun Belt Championships with a top throw of 67.43 meters.
Clint Broussard's season-high clearance of 6-11.00 in the high jump earned him a third place finish in the men's final. Broussard reached the winning height alongside Troy's Larry Henry and UL-Lafayette's Sander Maes, with Henry ultimately taking home the title.
The ULM men's 4 X 400 Relay team of Dimitri Hampton, Jestin Miller, Jamel Sams and Keyon Jones ran a 3:13.46 in the race final to finish in third place.
