NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The ULM tennis team completed day one at the SFA Fall Invitational on Friday to open its fall schedule. Junior Medy Blankvoort and sophomore Silvia Tumova will play for their respective flight championships on Saturday.

Blankvoort defeated Sheridan Currie of Sam Houston State in straiight sets (6-1, 6-3) and then was victorious Polina Konop from Northwestern State (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) to advance to the Flight A Singles Championship.

Tumova will play for the Flight B Singles Championship on Saturday after defeating Lara Bogdan of Lamar in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) and Natalie Petaia from Sam Houston State (6-4, 5-7, 12-10).

Freshman Iris Van Leeuwen dropped her first two matches as a Warhawk. First to Nadia Dubyanskya of Sam Houston State (6-2, 6-2) and Daniela Simonova from Northwestern State (6-1, 6-2).

In doubles play, Blankvoort and Tumova dropped its first match in Flight A Doubles to Konop and Nataly Krutova from Northwestern State (9-7). However, after a bye in the bottom part of the bracket they knocked off Tatyana Postnikova and Dubyanskaya of Sam Houston State (9-7) to win the back draw of Flight A Doubles.
