ULM Tennis Falls to Texas State on Sunday
SAN MARCOS, Texas -- No. 75 ULM tennis dropped a hard-fought match at Texas State, 5-2, on Sunday. The Warhawks are now 6-1 this spring.
ULM opened the match winning the doubles point. Petra Horakova and Silvia Tumova defeated Rachel Baldree and Monica Pieratt, 8-2, in No. 2 doubles. Medy Blankvoort and Justyna Krol beat Mariana Perez and Berenice Van Den Bergh, 8-3, No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match between Sophie Rufyikiri and Ema Turudija and Jessica Kahts and Melissa Hadad was unfinished.
Van Den Bergh beat Horakova in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-3, to start the singles competition. Turudija fell to Baldree, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 4 singles. Krol dropped her No. 5 singles match to Perez, 6-0, 6-3.
Texas State secured the victory with a thrilling match in No. 1 singles. Kahts edged Rufyikiri 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5. Blankvoort won her No. 2 singles match over Hadad 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Tumova was forced to retire due to injury with the match tied 6-4, 4-6, in No. 3 singles.
ULM will return to Raymond Heard Stadium and play four matches in four days beginning with Nicholls State on Friday at 10 a.m.
