Track & Field Readies for LSU Relays this Weekend

MONROE, La. – The ULM track & field team is back in action this weekend at the LSU Relays at Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

The meet kicks off on Friday, March 22, at 4 p.m. with the men’s and women’s shot put, pole vault and hammer throw. Also on tap for Friday are the men’s and women’s sprint medley relay, the 1,500-meter run and the 5,000-meter run.

Saturday’s action gets started at 10 a.m. with the remainder of the field events, while the remaining running events begin at 1 p.m.

Several Warhawks rank at the top of the Sun Belt’s performance list after two weeks of the outdoor season. Freshman Corey Wesley holds the top spot in the long jump with a best leap of 24-0.25 (7.32m). Wesley, who won the triple jump title at the Louisiana Classics last weekend, also ranks sixth in the conference with a best jump of 46-10.25 (14.28m) in the triple.

Senior Clint Broussard earned his first title of the outdoor season in the high jump at the Louisiana Classics and he holds the top spot in the Sun Belt with a best mark of 6-9 (2.06m).

In addition, ULM owns three of the best times in the conference in the men’s 110-meter hurdles as junior Martin Solomon ranks third (14.88), freshman Nick Young ranks eighth (15.41) and sophomore Jamel Sams ranks 10th (15.69). Sams also owns the second best time in the 400-meter hurdles (54.84).

ULM’s 4x400-meter relay team is off to a good start to the season as it ranks second in the Sun Belt with a top time of 3:15.63, just behind North Texas (3:15.55). ULM’s 4x100-meter relay team ranks sixth with a top time of 42.54.

On the women’s side, freshman Ke’Andrea Wilson ranks third in the 100-meter dash with a top time of 12.03, while sophomore Teona Glave has the top time in the 400-meter dash (57.38).

The 4x100-meter relay team ranks sixth in the Sun Belt in a time of 47.31 and the 4x400-meter relay team ranks third in the conference with a top time of 3:55.38.
