SAUCIER, Miss. -- The ULM men’s golf sits in fifth place after the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
“We didn’t play our best today,” said head coach Walt Williams.
The Warhawks carded a 301 in the opening round of the tournament to take a lead over Western Kentucky, UALR, Arkansas State, Troy and Texas State. The team is just two strokes away from fourth place team ULL.
“Charlie was solid and the other four were grinding to post countable scores,” said Williams.
Charlie Macneal led ULM, posting a 1-over 73, while Seaborn, Smail, Meyer and Hill all posted a 4-over 76.
“Thank goodness they don’t give out the trophies after the first round, though,” said Williams, “I believe we’ll play better the next two rounds and hopefully be in the hunt coming down the stretch on the final day!”
The second round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
