MONROE, La. -- ULM wraps up the non-conference portion of the schedule at Southeastern Louisiana and Lamar on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home Saturday for a pivotal three-game series with Georgia State to conclude the home slate.

Prior to Sunday's game, ULM will honor senior Samantha Hamby in an on the field ceremony.

Warhawks Experience Roller Coaster Week
ULM started the week on the wrong end of a pair of walk-off hits, first on Apr. 15 at Central Arkansas then again in game one on Apr. 18 at UTA. The Warhawks were able to regroup for a dominant 11-3 win over the Mavs in Friday’s nightcap. A late ULM rally fell short in Saturday’s matinee to close out the week.

Roberts Garners Weekly Sun Belt Award
Rochelle Roberts was selected the Sun Belt Player of the Week for her astounding four games last week. She tallied at least two hits in each contest and had a 3-for-3 and a 4-for-4 outing in the UTA series. She hit .786 on the week and is now the team leader in batting average. She is the first Warhawk to grab an offensive award since Brianna Love in 2011 and the second ULM player to be honored by the league this season. She is the first-ever freshman to receive the accolade.

Stealing Records
Miyuki Navarrete has now moved into fourth all-time in the ULM record books as she has 79 career steals, just one away from Ruth Dawson. She needs five more to tie Amy Pezdek’s career mark of 83. Navarrete’s single-season tally of 34 stands fifth all-tie and is 15 away from Brenda Dawson’s 49 in 1992. As a team, ULM has swiped 109 bags this season. The Warhawks have stolen over twice as many bases as they have allowed and are the best in NCAA Division I.

Scouting the Warhawks
After an outstanding week, Rochelle Roberts leads the team with a .388 average but Miyuki Navarrete’s 42 hits pace the squad. Faith Bohack has a team-high 30 RBI with Alexis Cacioppo on her heels at 29. Cacioppo and Bohack share a team-best seven homers. In the circle, Samantha Hamby has pitched the vast majority of the innings, but the staff welcomed Melanie Coyne back after she missed nearly two full months to bring the bullpen to four deep.

The Holloway-Hill File
Head coach Rosemary Holloway-Hill is in her 30th season at the helm of the Warhawks. She is joined on staff by first year assistants Ashlyn Williams and Garrett Furnal. Williams serves as pitching coach while Furnal assists with hitting and the infield.

Scouting Southeastern Louisiana
The Lady Lions and Warhawks renew an old in-state rivalry on Tuesday. SELA’s is paced by Katie Lacour’s .379 average but Megan Moore’s 34 RBI on 34 hits pace the offense. Eight of those hits left the park for Moore. Don’t look for this squad to run, however, as they only have five total stolen bases this season. In the circle, Taylor Bishop has tossed a team-best 80.2 innings and struck out 47. Her ERA stands at 3.82 with a 6-7 record. This is the first meeting between the two schools in five seasons.

Series History: SELA leads 34-32
First Meeting: 2/11/89, ULM 4, SELA 3 in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Last Meeting: 4/1/09, at SELA 3, ULM 1

Scouting Lamar
The Cardinals are in their second full season after being reinstated as a program a few years ago. Still, Lamar and ULM have an old rivalry, as well. Beverly Corry has the edge at the plate with a .321 average while teammate Tina Schulz has driven in 28. Both women share a team lead of seven homers. In the circle, Schulz has a team best ERA of 3.71 and an 8-11 record. This is ULM’s first trip to Beaumont since 1985. Last season, the two teams renewed their rivalry with the Warhawks reigning triumphant in both games of a twin bill.

Series History: ULM leads 15-6
First Meeting: 4/29/83, at Lamar 4, ULM 2
Last Meeting: 3/14/13, at ULM 6, Lamar 3

Scouting Georgia State
ULM and Georgia State tangle for the first time in program history as Sun Belt foes. The series is set to bring the all-time matchups to four games in all between the two programs. Coming into the week, Lauren Coleman’s .387 average and 42 RBI lead the Panthers, but Taylor Anderson’s 11 HRs remind teams that the squad is a threat at the plate up and down the lineup. Kaitlyn Medlam has been the workhorse for GSU in the circle, tossing 183.0 innings. She has a 16-10 record with a 2.68 ERA and has fanned 138 while walking just 57. The Panthers will play a midweek game at No. 15 Georgia before coming to Monroe.

Series History: GSU leads 1-0
First Meeting: 3/28/99, GSU 6, ULM 0 in Atlanta (at Georgia Tech)
Last Meeting: (same)

Around the Sun Belt
With two series left for everyone, it seems as though UL-L has the No. 1 seed locked up with just one Sun Belt loss. WKU and South Alabama will likely finish either second or third, but the remainder of the seeding is open season. ULM and Georgia State are playing a critical series this weekend, as the Panthers are ahead of the Warhawks for the fourth seed. ULM is a game ahead of Texas State in the loss column for the fifth spot. UTA is not far behind at the seventh position. Troy, meanwhile, will likely grab the eighth seed but could threaten for the sixth spot (ULM owns the tiebreaker).

ULM Did You Know?

  • Miyuki Navarrete’s 78 career stolen bases is 25th among all active players in Division I. Her stolen base percentage of .893 ranks 12th in Division I.
  • ULM leads the Sun Belt in double plays turned per game and doubles hit per game.
  • Alexis Cacioppo is now in fifth on ULM’s all-time homer list with 22. She needs three more long balls to become the 11th player in ULM history to record 10 (or more) home runs in a season.
