MONROE, La. – For their outstanding efforts over the weekend, Dusan Makevic from the ULM track & field team earned Warhawk Male of the Week and Rochelle Roberts from the softball program was named Warhawk Female of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Makevic, who picked up his fourth Warhawk of the Week accolade this year, was one of two student-athletes to represent ULM in a pair of meets in California this weekend. He started it off by running a 3:52.48 in the 1500m in Walnut, Calif., at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays on Friday.

The next day, the Sabac, Serbia native set a personal-record by over 10 seconds in the 5000m with a time of 14:35.50 in Norwalk, Calif., at the Long Beach Invitational and was the second-fastest time in school history. The score was good for a top-five finish. Makevic also ran in the 1500m where he improved his time from the day before at 3:52.33 which was good for 11th out of 113 competitors.

Makevic currently holds the second fastest time in the SBC this season in the 1500m and is top-five in the 5000m. He and the Warhawks will be back at it on Saturday when they travel to Natchitoches, La., for the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.

It marked the second award this week for Roberts who became the first freshman in ULM softball history to win Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. Over the week, she notched four multi-hit games and totaled 11 hits and a .786 batting average.

The Vacaville, Calif., product registered a four-for-four outing in ULM’s 11-3 victory over UTA in game two of the weekend series. She swiped a career-high three stolen bases in the contest and accumulated eight on the week. Roberts upped her season batting average to .388, fourth-best in the league.

Roberts and the Warhawks will take the field again tonight in Hammond, La., when they square off against Southeastern Louisiana at 6:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
