Monroe, La. – The ULM men’s basketball team battled Troy throughout on Monday night, however could not overcome a late three-pointer from the Trojans as the visitors hung on for a 73-72 overtime victory.

THE TURNING POINT                                                     

-Troy had the final possession in the overtime session and trailed by two when Kevin Baker hit a step-back three with seconds to go that proved to be the game-winner after Nick Coppola's half-court effort fell short at the buzzer.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks took a two-point lead with 1:33 to go in overtime after Sam McDaniel’s free throw made it 70-68. The Trojans countered with a Jordan Varnado layup to knot it at 70 before Travis Munnings pushed the Warhawks back out in front with a hook shot basket off of Coppola’s eighth assist to give the Warhawks a 72-70 lead. The Trojans answered once again as Baker hit a three with under four seconds left to give Troy a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.

-The Warhawks were led by Marcus Washington, who had a career night in the loss. Washington had a career-high 18 points while making a career-best nine field goals. He also had a career-high nine rebounds as well as dishing out a career-best six assists while adding a career-high three blocks in 41 minutes of action, also the most in his career.

-Travis Munnings added 18 points while making 7-of-14 from the floor while Sam McDaniel had his sixth double-double on the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Marvin Jean-Pierre came off the bench and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor to add 13 points.

-The Warhawks had a season-high seven blocks, as Sam Alabakis and Roderick Taylor each had two blocks in addition to Washington's three rejections.

-The Warhawks had a solid night on the offensive glass as they picked up 14 offensive rebounds in the loss. ULM now has had 10 or more offensive rebounds in 16 of the teams' 26 games.

-Troy was led in this one by Jordon Varnado who had a game high 23 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor. Juan Davis Jr. added 12 points while Kevin Baker added 11 points.
